NYATIGO TARA CBO

Sustainability Initiatives

Building long-term sustainability through agricultural and community-based enterprises that support our programs, create employment opportunities and improve food security.

Creating Sustainable Income for Community Impact

To ensure the long-term sustainability of our programs and reduce dependence on donor funding, Nyatigo Tara Community-Based Organization (CBO) generates income through a range of agricultural and community-based enterprises. These initiatives not only support our operations but also create employment opportunities and improve food security within the community.

Our key sustainability initiatives include:

1

  • Sale of improved indigenous chickens for meat and breeding.
2

Fruit and Seedling Nursery

  • Sale of quality fruit seedlings, including avocado, papaya, passion fruit, mango, and banana.
  • Sale of fresh fruits harvested from our demonstration farm.
3

Community Water Supply

  • Sale of clean, safe water from our solar-powered borehole to households and local institutions at affordable prices.
4

Rabbit Farming

  • Sale of rabbits for meat and breeding.
  • Sale of rabbit urine for the production of organic bio-pesticides and liquid fertilizer.
5

6

Vegetable Production

  • Sale of fresh vegetables such as tomatoes, kale, capsicum, chilli, eggplant, and a variety of indigenous vegetables grown using agroecological and organic farming practices.
